How do you look at finance in a business context?

Money and finance is a driver that we use for every business decision

Money is what the business is about, if we don't know something turns a profit we don't do it

Finance is a necessary evil that we have to deal with because we have a vision and goal we want to reach

Finance is an outcome, but not a decision making tool

We have financial targets that we set and try to hit

We plan our expenditures, forecast our income and match it with what actually happens

Get an automated dashboard with your key metrics

Create different scenarios e.g (positive, negative, with external funding or bootstrapped etc.)

Help break down costs and income

Combine planning & modelling with your actuals to get a dynamic P&L and forecast

Map out implications of your actions e.g (hire marketeer → increase blogs by X per month → increase traffic by Y per month → increase in new customers)

Don't just use exponential growth and churn models, but let them evolve over time (increase growth rate, reach a plateau, seasonality etc.)
